Day 1 in Key West FL

Traveled down the Overseas Highway (aka US 1) today to my destination for about the next 2.5 months. As I drove I tried to take pix of the water which was green, turquoise, blue and azure, the pictures just don't do it justice. You will also see the bridges, so many of them. The best of all is the 7-mile bridge. Oh, I could feel the excitement build. I don't think the smile left my face the entire time. Even Sedona knew we were heading to a fun place, doesn't she look excited?

Once I arrived at BlueWater Key Resort, Candy met me at the gate, I dropped the Grey Goose and in I came to paradise. I have planned and planned some more for what I consider my retirement gift to myself. I have looked at pictures on the internet and Google Earth just hoping this place was going to be my Shangri-La. I have been to Key West 8-10 times but always for a week and it was never enough. I wanted more and now I have more. The beauty of where I am is that I am not in downtown KW so I can escape the madness if I want. I'm not sure it's KW so much as it is the tropical aspect of my paradise. As with anything, you must pay for paradise and that was what I did while I was working so now I can just sit back and enjoy because it's all paid for, very expensive for $3500 but worth every penny so far.
Sedona even enjoys sunning and chasing the iguanas away. Yeah, right!

My site has tropical foliage on both sides so it hides the neighbors, it has cable, a Tiki hut with a full size refrigerator, TV, sink, dock, deck, lights and water in which to snorkle, kayak, swim and just chill. Loving it! Oh there's a pool, laundry and the usual things in the club house. They even had a It's 5:00 Somewhere flag waiting on me. Well, not really but it was interesting that it was on my site to greet me. I'll let you know how it goes, but not every day. LOL

And of course, my post would not be complete without my first sunset from my very own deck!

I hear Buffet strumming and humming in the background..... And I bet no smelly dead fish...those that awaited me after that cold spell that swept through right before I made the drive south and back.....Enjoy retirement vacation....is that like repeating oneself?

I'm just now catching up on your blog. CONGRATULATIONS! You made it to paradise. It is just gorgeous! The water is always such a beautiful color in Key West. Didn't realize you were going to have your own Tiki Hut - how cool is that! And a 5 o'clock Somewhere flag - it's so perfect for you! Wish I was there with you and Sedona just chilling out.
