Saturday night we celebrated my friend, Randy's 60th birthday. Well the actual day is May 19 but since it was the weekend, we partied. First we all met at Cherokee Steak House on Old Hickory Lake. There were about 17 of us there anxiously awaiting he and Debbie's arrival. He was so SURPRISED! He thought we were going to have a party for him next week so he was not expecting anyone but Glenn and Melissa, his daughter & son-in-law. Here is a roomful including his best friend from kindergarten, George & Barbara. Debbie had managed to really pull this one off. The food was delicious. I had forgotten how good their steaks are and how reasonable the price. Good job, Debbie & Melissa.
After eating we went to Melissa & Glenn's house for the "party." It was decorated with Simply 60 banners, and sparkly things. Cute cake w/football figurines on it. The cake was from Publix w/butter cream icing. Ooh, I could have eaten half of it. LOL Melissa had made a powerpoint presentations with his "old" pix and it was funny to watch. She did a great job.
We had a reprise of the Blues Bros by Randy & his friend Mark. They get all dressed up like the BB and then karoke the songs. Randy really enjoys doing this & he was all ready because he had been practicing. He thought he was going to do it next week. Gotcha' Randy.
His gifts were a riot. All gag gifts! 2 of the funniest were a pair of boxer shorts with balls hanging out. OMG, they were so funny. Of course he had to model everything he got so he put them on and we all just died laughing. Oh, we are so bad. Remember when I told you a few posts ago that I went to the Hustler store after Debbie, Sandra and I went to the Menopause the Musical play? Well I went to get Randy a gag gift. I chose a G string that was red and looked like an elephant! Well, Randy put the G string on over his saggy balls shorts and it was a sight to behold. I don't think I need to explain what the elephant looked like. I'll tell you everyone said the trunk was way too long. TMI is all I can say.
It was a great party but I'll tell ya, I had about 4 shots of tequila (Randy's favorite, CaboWabo, and it has taken me about all day to recover. Guess I'm not as young as I used to be. Debbie asked Barbara what she and George thought about last night. She said, "well, our friends are not as frisky as yours!" Enough said.
I'm in the process of erasing my files on my old Gateway computer so I can recycle it. I got it in 2001 so it's on it's last legs. This program is called Erase and I read and heard about it from Kim Komando. She is the digital goddess, has a radio station and a terrific website. If I ever have a question, she is the first source I check. I like calling her show too. If you check it out be sure to get the address & spelling correct, it's www.komando.com.

What a week!
Monday was a pretty good day to come back from Bowling Green. Glad we stayed overnight. Theda drove back most of the way and it was nice to be able to rest & relax.
This week began with an announcement by the Governor that there would be layoffs in State Government. Then the news got a hold of more information and I found out that there would be the possibility there would be a retirement incentive. Man, oh, man did I get excited. I'm only about 7 months from retirement and if the Gov. includes years + money, I'm outta there earlier. I can start on my RV journey a lot sooner than anticipated. What excitement! What anxiety! I would have so many things to do that I had planned on taking my time to get ready. Sell the condo! Buy a new to me car that can be towed 4-down. Have the estate sale. Too many things to do if I get to go out in June. I think Chad (my financial planner) would just absolutely tell me, no, no, no. Would I listen? Don't know. I cross that bridge when I get to it.
Heard a little later in the week that they will begin at 30 + years. I should know something Monday, May 12. So many of us could go. If it's good enough, Becky, Cindy, Cindy, Sandra, Debbie, everyone but me. What is meant to be will be! I can't push it. I can dream though.
Got my computer. It is quite lovely. Sunshine yellow! Did you doubt. So far so good, I love it. I don't think Vista is going to be a problem. Now Microsoft office 2007 may be a different story. Large learning curve on that but hey, I've got all the time in the world.
Can't wait to plan a trip on my computer. I got the Co-pilot Navigator 9 GPS software. It's for RV's and has POI (points of interest) w/cg's, fueling stations, parks, natural areas, etc. I'll probably play with it soon. Theda, Becky and I are going to Destin in June so I'll plan that trip and see where it takes us. It has text to speech feature so the gal tells me when to turn and says the name. I'll give an update on it as soon as I get familiar with it. Right now it's a cool toy.
I went to Carmax the other day to get an idea of what price I would have to pay for another vehicle. They appraised my PT cruiser and they only wanted to give me $3500. for it. You have got to be kidding me! Too bad I can't tow it 4-down. I called Chrysler and they said absolutely not. Mine is a 2001, later models can be modified w/out problems. Leave it to me. My car is so good and has been taken care of, I can't imagine letting Carmax have it for that little money. It will all work out.
Been contemplating putting my condo on the market. While it's for sale, I think I'll bring Somewhere down and live in her. That way I won't have to worry about keeping my house clean & picked up and what to do with Sedona when someone comes in. I may wait a little longer to do that but I think it sounds like a great idea.
Weather is supposed to be really bad this weekend. I was gonna clean carpets and upholstery in Somewhere but it's gonna be too damp and it wouldn't dry well on Sunday. Maybe I'll have a lazy weekend and get ready for the yard sale. Sounds like a winner.

Looks as good as new...
I picked up Somewhere yesterday and she looks beautiful. I had her detailed and the wax job really did make her look as good as new. I felt very proud to own her and be driving down the road. Of course, I felt that way anyway. LOL
As promised Cullum & Maxey replaced my outside entertainment center (no cost!!!), had a brand new water filter in place + and extra (no cost!!!) but they had not fixed the jacks joystick. It was not on the work order so it didn't get done. But after I explained I didn't have a vehicle, they said no problem. Took it back into the shop, pulled a technician over and within 20 minutes, it was ready. Apparently some trash had gotten in between the connections and that prevented it from working properly. So now I'm good to go. I had told Tom (service manager) that I said bad things about him on my blog during my Easter trip. He was EXTREMELY helpful this time (generally always) even took a little extra time in showing me some hints/tips around the generator, AC and frig. He asked if he had redeemed himself, I told him I would say something nice this time. So there, something nice, Tom!
Cindy wanted to ride to Clarksville with me, since she had not ridden in Somewhere so off we went. I left the roof AC on while driving. Tom said it would take less gas to run the AC on the genny than the motor AC so I thought I would try that. I'm all about conserving gas these days.
When we arrived at the house, Cindy failed to tell me to turn into another entrance so I went the usual way. It seems that while I was gone, they had plowed up the field and planted corn. Now, I didn't know they had planted corn so I pull in and make a big 'ole wide turn into the plowed, planted field, all the while getting my newly shined tires dirty, ugh. Then Cindy says, oh I was supposed to tell you to turn at the other entrance, oh, well, too late now. So when Roger comes up and comments on how good the MH looks, Cindy tells him I turned around where the corn had been planted. "I didn't know they had planted already," is what I said. Roger said no big deal.
Today begins Sales Tax Free Holiday in TN. Now is when I decided to buy a laptop so I got on the phone very early this morning to Dell. I wanted to order it directly from them and have it built like I wanted it. I didn't want to go to a box store and get one that had been there for a while. Here is what I got:
Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T7250, 2.0GHz, 800 Mhz, 2M L2 Cache. It's Sunshine Yellow, 4GB, DDR2 667MHz 2 Dimm, 160G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor (in case I drop it) I had the Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N mini-card installed (its a Verizon card that can be activated whenever I decide but it will use three antennas instead of the one on the external Verizon card. Anyway, it has a lot of other things but that's the guts. It won't be here for about two weeks. I think it was time. My desktop at home was purchased in 2001 and is still running Windows ME and is slow as the dickens. Yes, I got VISTA. Okay, I know what I have heard from other people, but I'm gonna give it a chance. I believe it's gonna be here to stay and as long as I keep my computers, no telling what it will be when I get another one. I'll keep you posted about my experiences with VISTA. Should be entertaining.
Next purchase this weekend will be some new tennis shoes and hiking shoes. Hey, I figure with sales tax free, what the heck. Plus I'll be getting my tax incentive check in a week or two, it's supposed to be spent, right? So I guess with the shoes and my kayak, I'm done!

Motocross racing
OMG, have you ever been to one? Well I went to my first last night. It was indoors at Shelbyville arena where they have the Walking Horse Celebration. It was deafeningly loud and the exhaust was smothering but the racing was exciting and nerve wracking. Jacob did well, he came in 1st place for qualifying and came in 3rd in the real race. When he started out his wheel hung up on the gate and then there was a pile up in the first turn but he maneuvered out of that and got around the pile up. He has some great driving skills and has such a calm head on his shoulders. Once he got around everyone piled up he was 7th. So in the next few laps he made up to 3rd and was getting ready to overtake 2nd and he stalled or missed a gear or something. Anyway, if he had a couple of more laps he would have overtaken 2nd and probably gave a good race for 1st. It was good racing. Can't wait to go to Tellico to watch him race in the holler. They say it's about twice as large a track as the one indoors. Longer races too. Jacob and Josh are such good boys and they are growing up so quick. It was good to spend time with them.
Today has been a do nothing day. Still have Duchess. Sedona and Duchess have been so entertaining today. They are so cute when they play the tug of war game with their toys. There has been a little too much dog estrogen in the room today. They are both very territorial. They actually do well together.
Debbie is doing better. She called me today. She is still in quite a bit of pain but at least she was well enough to talk on the phone. That made me feel better to hear her anyway. She got her fruit basket and was pleased to have it. She said her pain now was more from the top of her thighs. The doc said that the nerves ran on top of the thighs and that was the nerves they disturbed. It will take a while for that to get better.
Been watching football and women's basketball today. Lazy slug. TN Lady Vols beat Vanderbilt Ladies. Patriots won and now the NY Giants are playing Green Bay and it looks very, very cold up there. Don't understand how they can play in -1 degree and a -23 degree wind chill. I really don't understand people sitting out in that and watching. But I guess that's football.
27 more days before I leave for Cancun. Yes, I'm counting down. Can't wait to get to some warm weather and into the gulf. I hope it's clear enough to do some snorkeling, kayaking and other water stuff. Of course there will be some other activities going on, it's an all inclusive resort and everything will be furnished. I'll be a total slug for a week. It's okay 'cause I deserve it. :)
Update on Roy's computer. He took it back. See it had Windows Vista on it. The RR website doesn't troubleshoot Vista and he could not get on their website to sign up for work, etc. Best Buy and Bellsouth couldn't help either. So he took it back and had to order one that had Windows XP on it. The one he is getting is a 15.4 screen, so other than being smaller screen I don't think there is much difference but it does have XP. Glad Best Buys worked with him on it. So the jury is still out on Vista for me. Don't know why they had to change it except I do know that XP had some security issues but have kept updates to fix that. I hope anyway. Can't wait to see his new one.

Cold, cold Saturday
It is so cold outside. No precipition but cold. Guess for Jan it should be.
Wow, I could get used to this. Roy got a new laptop and I'm sitting in the living room writing my blog. It is a Toshiba 17" screen and is wireless. I installed a wireless router at home on my desktop and am able to use his compter in any room in the house.
Guess this is a test of the one I will get when I hit the road. I'm waiting until the last minute to get one so it will not need to be updated for a long time. I've had my desktop since 2001 so that tells you I can make 'em last. LOL
My great-nephew is racing 4-wheelers in Shelbyville today so I'm going up there tonight to watch him race. They say it's loud and cold in there so I've got to get prepared.
My friend Debbie had back surgery this week. During her recovery for a few days, I have her dog, Duchess. Sedona is wondering why we have this other animal is in her space. They are actually playing well and chasing each other all over the place. It's funny to watch. They play tug-o-war with different toys. It's quite entertaining. Duchess will stay here for a little while. Last night was a hoot. Sedona will NOT sleep under the covers and that's where Duchess heads, straight for under the covers. Sedona couldn't understand what this blob was cuddled up next to me. Now one is dozing at one end of the couch and one is at the other end. Animals are so entertaining.
Since we are off on Monday, I'll be going up to visit Somewhere. I need to start her engine & generator. I can't wait to spend some time there. It seems a while since I have been in her. I've got some new things I want to put in there, plus I just want to see her. Cindy assures me that she is okay. Somewhere is getting attention parked at the farm. Everyone wants to know who it belongs to. I think it's funny that the neighbors want to know everything. I've got to go out today and get something for put under her tires and then to get tire covers so the UV rays won't do more damage.
Margie and I have planned a get together for the women in and around TN on the Women's RV forum. It's not till April but it is fun planning everything. I love to plan trips so this just falls right into place. Right now it's planned for a campground Crossville. More to come on this. That group of ladies in the forum are so varied, funny, pleasant and to be on a forum are quite nice. We had originally planned for Pulaski because there were some AL girls we thought would come. As it turned out they couldn't so some of the others were from Knoxville & McMinnville so the logical half way point was Crossville. It should be fun.
